Gotoh Magnum Lock String Changing Instructions

Figure 1

Figure 2
String Mounting:

Turn knobs on body clockwise to tighten, counterclockwise to loosen.

To Change Strings:

Loosen the lock-nut on shaft by screw driver or coin to make a enough space in the hole in which the string can be inserted through the locking shaft (Fig 1).

Run the string through the shaft and pull the end of the string away from the guitar. The string should make a fairly straight line from your hand to the nut. Hold the string tight, then wind the tuner button for tuning. (Fig 2) Once the locking shaft starts to rotate, it automatically locks the string. It is essential that the string should not wind around the shaft more than about half a turn or a full turn at most.

To Release The Lock To Change Strings:

If the string is not broken, loosening the tuner will automatically release the lock.
Note: You can not release the lock-nut with a screw driver or coin if the string is not loose or broken.

If the string is broken, use a coin or srew driver to loosen the lock-nut. With left side mounts in line(Strat type) tuner arrangements, lock-nuts are loosened by turning them counterclockwise. With traditional 3 on a side type(Les Paul) tuner arrangements, the first three tuners are loosened in the clockwise direction and the last three loosen in the counterclockwise direction.
