STEINBERGER GEARLESS TUNER USE

To Install Strings

NOTE: Plain (G, B, & E) strings MUST have Steel or Silk wrapping at the twist, or be soldered, or they WILLDETUNE, during severe string bends.

1. Unscrew TUNING KNOB (larger knob on Back of the headstock) Clockwise all the way, so the string hole is fully exposed.

2. Unscrew CLAMPINGKNOB (smaller knob on the front of the headstock) Counter-Clockwise until the stringhole is fully open. Remove the old string.

3. Slide the new string, first through the bridge and then through the stringhole in the tuner. Pull the string tight.

4. Crush the string in tuner by turning the CLAMPINGKNOB Clockwise as HARD as you can.

NOTE: Because the High E string stretches so much, tilt the TREM forward and pull the string tight before Clamping. This should be done on the High E ONLY.

The CLAMPINGKNOB should be tightened VERY tight to assure stable tuning.

5. Cut the string approximately 1/4” from the TUNER post. (If no cutter is available, the string can be broken off by wiggling from side to side. However this can cause some slippage of wound string during string bends. In this case, re-tighten CLAMPINGKNOB as HARD as possible.)

6. Tune string with TUNINGKNOB.
