OB-Tune Frequently Asked Questions

Everytime I try to purchase OB-Tune, it says "processing payment" and just hangs.

Generally, this happens when there is incomplete information to process your credit card. Go to your account status and make sure that the shipping, billing, and phone information is all correct. Even though OB-Tune is not being shipped anywhere, we still need the information to process a credit card. Most likely, your credit card has not been charged, but a quick e-mail to obtune@musicyo.com, will let us verify this for you.

I've downloaded OB-Tune - now what?

When you download OB-Tune you are downloading an executable file that only works on a PC platform. Launch the .exe file from the machine where you will install OB-Tune. Choose “Mail/Fax” registration. (The Internet Registration option does not function.)  Copy your challenge code and log into obtune.musicyo.com and enter your e-mail address and challenge code. The automated system will generate a response code and e-mail it to you.

I've tried to register my copy of OB-Tune, but the program states that it can't find my email address.

Once the software has been registered, it cannot be re-registered without approval from our Authorization Department. If you receive this error, contact obtune@musicyo.com with an explanation as to why you need additional registration.

I can't find OB-Tune on my system and I have registered - where is it?

OB-Tune is a Direct-X plug-in, and can only be accessed through an application with Direct-X plug-in support. To find the plug-in on your system, refer to the “Plug-In” section of your software's manual.

OB-Tune adds clicks to the data:

OB-Tune adds a slight delay, as a necessary process in identifying the pitch. If you select data for processing it must start and end in silence, or else you will hear clicks where the delayed sound is preceded by zeros and the ending sound is discontinuous with the unprocessed sound.

Another cause for clicks in the data is artifacts in the original sound file. Examine the waveform of the sound file under the highest possible magnification. If you see a large number of "spikes" or other unusual shapes that were otherwise inaudible, OB-Tune may attempt to tune these artifacts, creating the clicks.

Cakewalk does not audition entire audio selection:

Cakewalk 7.0 and earlier does not allow you to change the audition time. Cakewalk 8.0 and Pro Audio 9 allows you to change this time. The setting can be changed from Cakewalk's Global settings under the Options menu.

More Wavelab Master Section problems:

There is another issue with applying a plugin in the Wavelab master section to data. The master section creates a second instance of the plugin and applies the controller parameters from the original. Unfortunately, this does not include scale edits or graphical data: these are not control values allowed by DirectX. Hence, the master section "Apply" function in Wavelab will never work with graphical mode because there's no way to transfer the audio and pitch correction data to the new instance. This also affects scale edits in automatic mode: the modifications are ignored.

Problem in Wavelab and Cakewalk:

From a user: "If I go to the graphic view and press the track pitch button it flashes. I then push the audition button and I get an error message saying that I may be using an invalid parameter."

He was having problems in Cakewalk 8.0. What we found is this (and it's the same behavior we see in Wavelab): The application defaults its audio engine parameters (sample rate, stereo/mono, etc.) independent of an open file. So I can open a mono file, not play it, try to load OB-Tune and fail because it attempted to connect stereo. Once I play a mono file, however, the audio engine then changes its parameters and I can load OB-Tune. So the workaround for an "invalid parameter" message in Cakewalk is to ensure you have a mono file open and play it one time.

Samplitude new version now OB-Tune compatible

IMPORTANT: OB-Tune is now compatible with Samplitude 2496 v5.20 or later.

To demonstrate OB-Tune with Samplitude, we will use one of our tutorial WAV files.

Launch Samplitude 2496. Press "E" to open a new project. Press "W" to insert a WAV file. Select "A2SWEEP" from the OB-Tune "Tutorial" folder. Use your cursor to select the entire region of audio Press the "Play Loop" button to hear the "untuned" version. Press "M" to open the mixer. Right-click on the "DirX" button. Click the checkbox to enable "Force Mono Processing". Double-click on the selection "Antares OB-Tune Plugin". From the OB-Tune window, set the key to "A Major". Press the Samplitude "Play Loop" button to hear the tuned results. For additional Samplitude Tech Support, call 707-578-1825 or email support@sekd.com

Wavelab Static presets (on the top-left of the window) do not work.

From a user: "If I change values on the sliders, and I want to save that as a preset, I click on the name, but it doesn't let me change the "Untitled" name of the default preset, and hence does not save the preset."

In Wavelab, "Static Presets" are presets that the plugin itself supports. They are not user-definable presets, but presets that the plugin defines. OB-Tune does not define any presets, therefore you do not see any available. The Preset button on the right allows you to define your own presets. You click on this button, select Edit (if no presets exist, clicking on Preset will just bring up the preset window, if presets exist, you can either select presets to load or select Edit to bring up this window), and then work on your collection of presets. Adding a new preset will save the current plugin settings to your name. You can also update and delete, etc.

Wavelab takes stereo only:

If the Wavelab Master Section is currently configured for stereo, it will connect plug-ins as stereo, which OB-Tune does not support. If the Master Section is currently configured for mono, it will connect plug ins as mono. It is configured based on the format of the last wave file opened; however, it never tells you what the current state is.
